Sheep? ... or Wolf?

Many of us will be familiar with the phrase
"A wolf in sheep's clothing"

The phrase has eveloved from its biblical origins, advising us to beware of false teachers, and we're all probably vaguely aware that it refers to someone who generally hides their true intentions or personality behind an exterior of kindness, helpfulness and general charm.

But why am I talking about this on my blog?  Because in our everyday interactions with people, we are likely to come across someone (or people) who are only really interested in advancing their own personal agenda, in whatever particular field, whatever that may be.

I have, over the years, met a few.  And, they have all made me, at some point doubt myself.  Whether professionally or in my personal life.  They have all, eventually, had a negative impact on my life. Some more than others.

But, there is one place where we can (fairly) easily remove these people from our lives ... we can make our social media pages, the us we show online, a positive place.

I've learnt (the hard way) that keeping people as 'friends' on my personal FB page, when those individuals have no interest in engaging with me in my day to day life is poisonous for me.

Why should I share my life, or the parts of it I choose to share on FB at any rate, with everyone I've ever met?  I don't need to, and I don't.

I've not decided to ditch FB in its entireity.  But I use my Social Media pages in a way that works for me - and that may be different from the way they work for you.

I like the connection they allow me to maintain with my closest friends, those who aren't necessarily close enough geographically to let us arrange coffee dates and nights out.  I like being able to share aspects of my life with family far away.

But I have learnt that in order to maintain my sanity, and to make sure that I am as stress-free as possible, some of the sheep need to disappear from my life.  Because, deep down, I'm not really sure that's what they are ...
